Acetic acid, also known as ethanoic acid, is a colourless organic acid with a strong sour smell and taste commonly found in vinegar. It is widely used in the production of chemicals, plastics, textiles, food additives, and cleaning products. Naturally occurring in fruits and the human body, acetic acid also plays an important role in industrial manufacturing. In its pure form, called glacial acetic acid, it is highly concentrated and corrosive.
